Description

Injury Management & Return to Work Specialist

Full-Time | Canberra | National Role

Drive recovery. Improve return to work outcomes. Help prevent the next injury.

Who We Are

We’re 4WD Supacentre – the home of Adventure Kings and one of Australia’s leading retailers of 4WD, camping and outdoor adventure gear.

We’re a fast-growing national business with a diverse operational footprint spanning retail stores, warehousing, distribution and corporate operations.

As our business continues to grow, we’re strengthening our approach to injury management and recovery at work. We’re looking for an experienced Injury Management & Return to Work Specialist to take ownership of injury management and return to work outcomes across our national operations.

About the Role

Reporting to the National Manager, People Partnering, this is a hands-on specialist role responsible for proactively managing workplace injuries and workers’ compensation claims from initial notification through to sustainable recovery and return to pre-injury duties.

You’ll work directly with injured employees, senior leadership, insurers, treating practitioners and rehabilitation providers to keep claims moving, remove barriers to recovery and identify meaningful opportunities for employees to recover at work.

But this role goes further than managing claims.

You’ll use injury and claims data to understand where and why our people are being injured, identify emerging trends and work closely with our National WH&S Manager and operational leaders to turn those insights into practical prevention strategies.

What You’ll Do

• Own and coordinate injury management, workers’ compensation and return to work matters across our national operations.

• Engage early following an injury and coordinate appropriate treatment, rehabilitation and recovery strategies.

• Develop and actively manage individual recovery and return to work plans.

• Work with leaders to identify meaningful suitable duties and facilitate progressive increases in employee capacity.

• Maintain regular contact with injured employees and proactively address barriers to recovery.

• Manage physical and psychological injury matters, including complex or deteriorating claims.

• Work closely with insurers, treating practitioners and rehabilitation providers to drive clear claim and recovery strategies.

• Participate in case conferences, medical reviews and workplace assessments where required.

• Analyse injury and claims data to identify recurring injuries, mechanisms of injury, high-risk activities and emerging trends.

• Partner with WH&S and operational leaders to translate claims experience into practical prevention initiatives and improved risk controls.

• Provide practical advice and coaching to leaders on injury management, suitable duties and recovery at work.

• Monitor and report on injury management and return to work performance across the business.

• Help continuously improve our injury management systems, processes, policies and reporting.

What You’ll Bring

• A relevant Bachelor’s degree, qualifications or formal training in workplace rehabilitation, injury management or workers’ compensation.

• Demonstrated experience in injury management, workplace rehabilitation, workers’ compensation or return to work.

• Strong understanding of injury management and workers’ compensation frameworks.

• Experience developing and managing recovery and return to work plans.

• Confidence working directly with insurers, treating practitioners, rehabilitation providers and operational leaders.

• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

• The ability to manage complex cases and have constructive, sometimes challenging, conversations with a range of stakeholders.

• Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn injury and claims data into practical recommendations.

• A proactive approach to progressing claims, identifying barriers and driving outcomes.

• The ability to work independently while collaborating closely with our broader People & Culture team.

Experience working across multiple Australian workers’ compensation jurisdictions or within retail, warehousing, logistics or another large operational environment will be highly regarded.
