The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced or entry level Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our team in Bendigo.

You will be responsible for providing support to individuals with challenging behaviours, helping them to develop coping strategies and improve their quality of life. The role requires a compassionate and patient individual who is resilient and able to work collaboratively with clients, families, and other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments to identify the root cause of challenging behaviours
  • Develop individualised behaviour support plans (BSP), aiming to support and reduce the occurrence of behaviours of concern
  • Assisting the family and other supports in implementing BSPs
  • Provide education and other supports to participants, their families, and caregivers on behaviour management techniques
  • Ensuring complete alignment within the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework and OH&S legislation.
  • Monitor participant progress and adjust BSPs as necessary
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to care
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client progress and interventions required to assess and adjust BSPs accordingly
  • Ensure accurate and timely billing is completed weekly
  • Attend and participate in care team meetings and participate in case conferences as require

This role will require you to travel and attend participants houses and out in the community.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in psychology, social work, education, or a related field
  • Previous experience working with individuals with challenging behaviours is preferred
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and evidence-based interventions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Compassionate and patient approach to working with clients
  • Ability to travel to participants/schools etc as required
