Summary:

This is a diverse and rewarding field-based role focused on the installation, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance of commercial fuel infrastructure and associated electrical systems across the UK.

You will be involved in a wide range of projects, from full new-build refuelling installations to the upgrade and ongoing maintenance of existing fuel storage and dispensing systems.

The position combines hands-on electrical installation, fault diagnosis, commissioning, and customer support, offering an excellent opportunity to build specialist expertise within a niche and expanding industry.

Working both independently and collaboratively, you will represent Octane on client sites, delivering high standards of workmanship alongside exceptional customer service.

While prior experience within the fuel industry would be beneficial, comprehensive product and industry training will be provided through our in-house development programme.

As an Electrical Field Engineer at Octane Holdings, you will play a key role in maintaining and optimising electrical systems within the utilities sector. Based in Bradford, Yorkshire, this is a permanent, full-time role suited to a proactive individual who can work autonomously as well as part of a team to deliver high-quality solutions that meet both industry standards and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation and commissioning of new and refurbished fuel storage and dispensing facilities.
  • Installation of distribution boards, containment systems and predominantly SWA cabling.
  • Installation and commissioning of fuel management systems, control panels and tank gauging equipment.
  • Electrical fault finding, diagnosis and repair of commercial fuel dispensing equipment and associated infrastructure.
  • Preventative and reactive maintenance of fuel pumps, fuel management systems, tank gauging equipment and ancillary systems.
  • Commissioning and testing of installed equipment to ensure compliance and operational performance.
  • Completion of service reports, commissioning documentation and certification.
  • Management of van stock and company equipment.
  • Maintaining high standards of health and safety while working on customer sites.
  • Providing a professional and customer-focused service at all times.

Travel & Call-Out Requirements

As a nationwide field-based role, travel is an integral part of the position.

Successful applicants must be willing to work away from home on occasion, with overnight stays required from time to time to support projects across the UK.

Due to the nature of our customers’ operations, participation in an out-of-hours emergency call-out rota will also be required.

This includes responding to breakdowns and critical faults outside normal working hours to ensure our customers’ fuel infrastructure remains operational.

Flexibility and a positive approach to nationwide travel and emergency response are essential for this role.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Qualified Electrician or Electrical Engineer.
  • Experience in commercial or industrial electrical installations.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Willingness to travel nationwide, including occasional overnight stays.
  • Willingness to participate in an out-of-hours emergency call-out rota.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience installing fuel management systems.
  • Experience with fuel tank gauging systems and control panels.
  • Experience working with three-phase electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of hazardous area (ATEX/DSEAR) installations.
  • Mechanical engineering experience or aptitude.
  • Previous field service engineering experience.
  • JIB Gold Card.
