Description

Operate cutting-edge autonomous vessels. Travel. Solve real-world challenges.

At SYOS Aerospace, we’re building the next generation of autonomous systems across air, land and sea. As we continue to grow across the UK and Europe, we’re looking for motivated, hands-on people to join our Operations Team and help deliver world-class uncrewed maritime capability.

If you enjoy being out in the field, working with advanced technology, travelling and taking on new challenges, this is an opportunity to be part of an innovative company making a real impact.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

As a Maritime & USV Operations Specialist, you’ll safely deploy, commission, operate and test our Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs). You’ll work alongside our Engineering, Production and Customer teams to support sea trials, customer demonstrations, training, product validation and operational deployments.

This is a highly varied role combining technical problem-solving, practical field work and customer interaction. Regular travel within the UK and internationally is part of the role, with occasional weekend work to support trials and customer activities.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • Operate autonomous surface vessels during trials, demonstrations and customer operations.
  • Commission, configure and test new systems and equipment.
  • Support customer demonstrations, training and field deployments.
  • Work closely with engineers to improve products through operational feedback.
  • Assist with acceptance testing, commissioning and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support logistics, planning and operational readiness across multiple projects.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

You’ll bring one or more of the following:

  • A qualification in Software Engineering, Mechatronics, Maritime Engineering, Electronics or a related discipline.
  • Experience skippering vessels, working as marine crew or supporting maritime operations.
  • Experience operating aircraft or unmanned systems.

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Experience with autonomous or unmanned systems.
  • Recognised skipper qualifications.
  • Experience towing boats or trailers.
  • Strong mechanical or electrical fault-finding skills.
  • Confidence working in dynamic, outdoor environments.
  • A full UK driving license.

If you’re a hands-on, get-it-done person who enjoys variety, thrives in the field and prefers being on the move rather than behind a desk, this could be the opportunity you’ve been looking for. With regular travel across the UK and internationally, no two days are the same as you support sea trials, customer demonstrations and real-world operational deployments.

Apply now.

Security Requirement: To be eligible for this role, you must be able to meet the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). This includes confirming your identity, legal right to work in the UK, recent employment history, and criminal record (unspent convictions only).
