Description

As BPX Group continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Project Manager to help deliver our ambitious plans across our UK and Ireland businesses. This is a fixed-term contract, working from 8:30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. This is a critical role at the heart of BPX’s strategic agenda, providing robust project management, effective stakeholder coordination and disciplined execution to turn priorities into measurable results while keeping delivery aligned with our wider market ambitions.

The Opportunity

The Project Manager is responsible for driving the successful delivery of strategic and operational priorities within BPX, ensuring alignment with the wider market Value Driver Framework and strategic objectives.

 

Working in close partnership with the Head of PMO, this role provides the structure, coordination, and execution discipline needed to turn plans into measurable results. The Project Manager will lead and coordinate cross-functional initiatives, monitor progress against key objectives, manage risks and dependencies, and ensure agreed outcomes are delivered on time and to the required standard.

 

This role requires a highly organised and self-motivated individual with strong stakeholder management skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the determination to drive actions through to completion. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, balancing strategic priorities with day-to-day delivery demands.

 

Main Duties

 

Strategic Delivery & Execution:

  • Support the implementation of strategic priorities and value-driving initiatives within BPX
  • Translate business objectives into detailed project plans, milestones, actions, and deliverables.
  • Drive the execution of agreed initiatives, ensuring delivery remains on track against plans and expectations.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure actions are completed by agreed deadlines.
  • Work closely with business leaders to maintain focus on priorities and expected outcomes.
  • Develop and execute proportionate change, communication and stakeholder engagement plans
  • Assess organisational readiness, coordinate training and handover activities and monitor adoption to ensure new processes, systems and ways of working become embedded in business as usual operations

 

Project & Programme Management:

  • Establish and maintain project plans, governance processes, and delivery schedules.
  • Coordinate activity across multiple stakeholders and workstreams.
  • Coordinate delivery across BPX Group businesses and locations, establishing clear local ownership and ensuring solutions are practical for frontline and customer-facing teams.
  • Manage project risks, issues, dependencies, and mitigation plans.
  • Ensure projects are delivered within agreed scope, timescales, and resource parameters.
  • Support the successful delivery of integration, transformation, and business improvement initiatives.

 

Governance & Performance Reporting:

  • Prepare regular progress updates, reports, and project dashboards.
  • Track performance against agreed milestones, objectives, and success measures.
  • Track financial and operational outcomes through delivery and post-implementation, intervening where initiatives are not achieving the agreed value.
  • Escalate delivery risks and challenges promptly, providing recommendations for resolution.
  • Ensure strong governance and adherence to agreed project management standards.
  • Maintain clear visibility of project status, decisions, and actions.

 

Stakeholder Management & Collaboration:

  • Build strong partnerships across the acquisition business and wider market teams.
  • Work collaboratively with the Head of PMO to ensure local priorities remain aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Facilitate project meetings, workshops, and review sessions.
  • Influence stakeholders to maintain momentum and accountability.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration and effective communication throughout project delivery.
  • Partner with business and finance leaders to define project business cases, measurable benefits and baseline performance.
  • Balance group-wide consistency with legitimate business and site specific requirements.

 

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to improve project delivery effectiveness and business performance.
  • Capture lessons learned and share best practice across initiatives.
  • Support the development of project management capability and delivery disciplines within the business.
  • Contribute to a culture of accountability, collaboration, and execution excellence.

 

 

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Proven project management experience delivering complex cross-functional initiatives.
  • Demonstrable experience of supporting the people and adoption elements of business change, including stakeholder impact assessment, communications, training and transition into business as usual
  • Strong planning, organisation, and prioritisation skills.
  • Experience creating and managing project plans, timelines, and governance processes.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving and risk management capability.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and drive accountability without direct authority.

  • Experience supporting acquisition integration, transformation, or change programmes.
  • Knowledge of project governance and portfolio management practices.
  • Experience within a matrix organisation.
  • Familiarity with benefits realisation and performance tracking methodologies.
  • Experience developing executive-level reporting and dashboards.
  • Financial tracking, budgeting, or business case support experience.
  • Professional project management qualifications (PRINCE2, MSP, PMP, Agile or equivalent).
  • Experience working within industrial, distribution, manufacturing, or commercial environments.
