Farm Maintenance Assistant – Matamata

For over 20 years, Westbury Stud has been a leader in New Zealand’s Thoroughbred industry, breeding elite racehorses that perform on the global stage.

We are seeking a reliable, physically fit and motivated person to join our Farm Maintenance team, assisting with the day-to-day upkeep and presentation of the farm.

This is a varied, hands-on role which includes, but is not limited to:

• Garden and lawn maintenance • General maintenance of farm buildings, fencing and water systems • Assisting with livestock movements when required • Supporting pasture management (spraying, topping) • Operating farm machinery and using a variety of hand tools • Following Work Health and Safety procedures at all times

The ideal candidate will:

• Have a good understanding of written and spoken English • Be able to follow instructions and work efficiently • Have practical problem-solving skills • Have good communication skills • Fencing or general maintenance skills would be an advantage • Be able to work well both independently and as part of a team • Have high standards and good attention to detail • Be physically fit – this is an active, outdoor role • Be honest, reliable and motivated • Have their own reliable transport

Previous experience in a farming or maintenance environment would be beneficial but is not essential, as training will be provided for the right person.

This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 4:30pm, with some flexibility required at busy times. Remuneration will be based on experience.
