Structural Steel Fabricator/Welder

Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Structural Steel Fabricator/Welder to join our team in Levin, Manawatu. We are looking for contractors, or we can offer a 12-month fixed term contract to help us deliver a large project.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in structural steelwork and welding, demonstrating a commitment to safety and excellence in workmanship.

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and analyse engineering drawings and specifications to fabricate steel components accurately.
  • Perform welding tasks using MIG, TIG, and stick welding techniques to assemble steel structures.
  • Conduct quality checks on fabricated components to ensure compliance with industry standards and specifications.
  • Operate fabrication equipment including saws, drills, presses, rollers etc.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other team members to meet project deadlines and specifications.
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of welding equipment and tools.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a structural steel fabricator and welder, with a minimum of 3 years in a similar role.
  • Relevant trade qualification or certification in welding and fabrication.
  • Strong understanding of welding techniques and safety practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
