Facility Manager – Tamahere (Waikato)

Are you an experienced Facility Manager ready to make a real difference in the lives of others?

Sound Care Group is seeking a full-time Facility Manager to lead operations at our newest site, Te Whare Manaaki O Tamahere, an 80-bed rest home located in the heart of Waikato. This is a rare opportunity to help establish and shape a fresh culture of care from the ground up.

To be considered for this role, you must hold NZ Citizenship, Permanent Residency, or a valid NZ Work Visa that does not require a job token. Candidates available to start immediately will be highly regarded.

About the Role

Reporting to the Group General Manager, the Facility Manager plays a pivotal leadership role, working closely with the Group Management Committee and the on-site Clinical Manager. You’ll oversee a diverse team across administration, housekeeping, maintenance, activities, and support services; ensuring the highest standard of care and services for our residents.

This is a hands-on leadership role where no two days are the same. You’ll champion quality improvement, drive operational excellence, and help ensure our residents live with dignity, comfort, and joy.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement care strategies aligned with DHB and Ministry of Health contracts.
  • Maintain strong relationships with DHBs, MOH and allied health professionals.
  • Uphold certification standards and prepare for surveillance audits.
  • Lead and inspire your team in line with our CARE values: Competence, Authenticity, Respect, Empathy.
  • Maximise resident occupancy by fostering a trusted, high-quality environment.

Operational Management

  • Partner with the Clinical Manager to ensure safe, effective nursing practice.
  • Provide support and direction to staff, while engaging positively with residents’ families.
  • Oversee all administrative and non-clinical operations, including housekeeping and maintenance.
  • Manage on-call duties and ensure timely reporting to relevant authorities (e.g. Coroner, Police, WorkSafe).

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure robust staffing coverage and deliver ongoing education and training.
  • Serve as delegated Quality Manager, maintaining and advancing the Quality Assurance Programme.
  • Participate in professional development (minimum of 8 hours per year).

Health & Safety

  • Foster a safe environment for residents, visitors, and staff.
  • Respond to inspections from Health & Safety Authorities and implement improvements as required.

About You

We are looking for an exceptional leader who will join our team of competent and caring professionals. To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Three or more years’ experience in the aged care or YPD care environment, including at least three years in a team lead or management role
  • A qualification related to aged care, health and disability, or equivalent
  • A current first aid certificate
  • Medical or clinical background (advantageous but not required)
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work well within a diverse team
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to relate to residents and staff from varied cultural and ethnic backgrounds
  • A strong sense of responsibility, accountability, and initiative, with the resilience to adapt well to change
  • Proven leadership skills with a track record of motivating and developing staff
  • Sound problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Good physical fitness and the commitment to maintain it
  • The legal right to live and work in New Zealand
