About the role
We have an opportunity for an experienced and people‑focused Team Leader – Registry (Branches) to join our Professional Standards group.
Reporting to the Registrar, this role works closely alongside Branch Managers to support branch‑based Registry staff (excluding Auckland), providing day‑to‑day operational guidance, workload coordination and quality assurance for the processing of regulatory applications under the Lawyers and Conveyancers Act 2006 and associated rules and regulations.
The role plays a key part in ensuring consistent, timely, and high‑quality registry services across the branch network. You will monitor workloads, support the resolution of complex or sensitive applications, and step in to process applications during peak periods as required. Through collaboration with Branch Managers, you will help ensure staff are well supported, performance expectations are clear, and registry processes are applied consistently nationwide.
This is a hands‑on leadership role that balances relationship management, technical expertise, and continuous improvement, supporting both the Registry team and the wider objectives of the Law Society.
Our ideal applicant will have:
- Proven experience leading or supervising a team in a regulatory, professional services, or
operational environment
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise and allocate work
across multiple people and locations
- Sound judgement and confidence in managing complex or sensitive applications and issues
- Excellent communication and relationship‑management skills, with the ability to provide
clear guidance and constructive feedback
- A collaborative leadership style, coupled with the ability to step in and process work when
required
- Experience working to service standards, KPIs, or statutory timeframes
- A commitment to continuous improvement, consistency, and quality assurance
