We are looking for a motivated Street Environmental Worker to join our Waiarapa based team.

About the role

You will be part of a team maintaining our clients’ open spaces.

Tasks will be varied and will include:

  • Litter Collection and litter bin emptying
  • Scrubbing and sweeping footpaths etc.
  • Removal of leaf fall and other detritus from cesspits
  • Work with road sweeper staff to manually sweep traffic islands and hard-to-reach areas of roads and carparks.
  • Hard surface cleaning (water blasting, scrubbing and sweeping) of shopping areas.
  • Removal of chewing gum from paved and cobbled areas
  • Cleaning of street furniture or other council assets as directed
  • Operating company vehicles, plant and equipment as trained and required
  • Following Health & Safety procedures.

Hours of work will be rostered part-time, typically 4:00 am to 9:00 am, Monday to Friday, with rostered weekend overtime.

About you

The successful person will have:

  • Relevant experience is highly beneficial,
  • Full driver’s licence,
  • Be physically fit and mobile, able to do physical work,
  • Have a commitment to health and safety,
  • A class 2 is not essential but would be an advantage as we would like to train you up to drive the road sweeper to provide cover for existing operator.
