The Opportunity 

ContainerCo is looking for an experienced and commercially minded National Depot Operations Manager to lead our depot network across New Zealand.  This is a key leadership role responsible for driving safe, efficient and consistent depot operations while supporting service excellence, business growth and continuous improvement.

Reporting to the GM Operations, you will lead and support Depot Managers across the national network, ensuring each site operates safely, efficiently and in line with customer, quality, financial and operational expectations.  You will work closely with teams across operations, transport, refrigeration, commercial, finance, health and safety, people and business improvement to deliver practical outcomes and consistent performance.

This role is responsible for translating strategic objectives into clear operational plans and ensuring our depot network has the leadership, structure and support required to perform at its best.  You will provide day-to-day operational guidance, identify and remove operational roadblocks, monitor depot performance and lead initiatives that improve safety, productivity, service delivery and cost control.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and support Depot Managers across ContainerCo’s national depot network.
  • Drive consistent operational performance, safety standards, service delivery and continuous improvement across all sites.
  • Monitor depot performance and implement practical corrective actions where required.
  • Support workforce planning, succession planning, engagement and capability development.
  • Promote a proactive health and safety culture and ensure operations comply with legislative, customer and company requirements.
  • Manage depot operating costs, productivity, labour, equipment and asset utilisation.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, ports, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • ·Oversee depot assets, resources, operational fleet utilisation, vehicle tracking and systems.

What you’ll Bring

  • Proven operational management experience in logistics, transport, container, depot or warehouse operations.
  • Strong leadership capability across multiple site or dispersed teams.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification desirable.
  • Experience with resource planning, fleet availability, stock or availability management.
  • Commercial and analytical capability, including reviewing actuals against forecast and identifying trends.
  • Confidence using operational reporting systems and turning data into action.
  • A full, clean New Zealand driver licence and willingness to travel nationally.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in business, logistics or operations would be advantageous.
