Working remotely can be a treat. Sunny day? Set up your workstation in your garden or on your balcony. Chilly day? Curl up next to a heater with a blanket, maybe with some snuggles from a furry pet. Wherever you want to work, you can.

However, that ability can sometimes be a double edged sword. There can be a lot of distractions if you work where you play. Plus, without teammates physically beside us as they would be in an office, you can feel a bit lonely. Sometimes, you just want to discuss the latest season of Stranger Things by the water cooler.

That’s where coworking spaces come in useful. They provide a new workspace for remote workers or freelancers who might want to hot desk for a few days in a devoted work environment, or even find a permanent spot to focus. It can also be a good opportunity to meet fellow professionals and socialise a little.

Intrigued? We’ve picked out the cream of the crop from New Zealand’s coworking spaces, with locations across the country.

Coworking space with private offices

If your main objective of using a coworking space is to focus, rather than find some new office buddies, then hiring out a private office in a coworking space is a good idea. There you can work with absolutely zero distractions.

The same goes for conducting any important calls or a meeting discussing confidential information. Finding private offices can be an important part of using that coworking space.

Luckily many of the spaces above offer private offices, as well as dedicated Zoom rooms for conference calls. Check in beforehand to see if you can specifically hire them out for a certain period.
