Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Team Leader to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of programme planners and deliverers within a region or area ensuring that Youthtown is recognised as a market leader in safe, high quality programmes which engage and develop young people in Aotearoa, empowering them to be the best they can be.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in people management, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads the programmes teams to ensure the delivery of high quality programmes including that the Health and Safety of programme participants, staff, volunteers and contractors is of continuous focus.
  • Oversees the rostering of staff on programmes including working with other Team Leaders to ensure staff are always effectively utilised.
  • Leads the recruitment, induction and training of skilled and motivated team members following best Human Resources practices.
  • Leads and coaches team members, appropriately utilising their skills, evaluating performance, assessing training needs and providing opportunities for learning and development.
  • Works in close partnership with the other Team Leader-Christchurch to ensure cohesive leadership across programme steams.
  • Leads the programmes teams to ensure that young people’s behaviours are managed consistently with Youthtown policy and values and industry best practice including the strengths-based approach as per the Code of Ethics for Youth Work in Aoteoroa and Youth Development Strategy Aotearoa

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience working in youth related industry
  • Knowledge of the youth sector and experienced in programme delivery
  • Experienced in people management and human resources
  • A commitment to a strengths-based approach as evidenced in work experience
  • Proven ability to build and maintain positive, productive and collaborative working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • An understanding of the Code of Ethics for Youth Work in Aotearoa New Zealand (Ara Taiohi)
  • Intermediate level of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Sound written communication skills – able to prepare and present accurate and reliable reports
  • Cultural awareness, understanding and willingness
  • Highly organised with good time management and organisational skills
  • Knowledge of health and safety best practice within the youth sector
