Wunan Foundation is a leading Aboriginal development organisation based in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Its purpose is to ensure that Aboriginal people enjoy the capabilities and opportunities necessary to make positive choices that lead to independent, fulfilling lives.

Purpose of the role 

The Employment & Training Manager is responsible for delivering culturally appropriate employment, training, workforce development, and engagement services to Aboriginal individuals, organisations, schools, and key stakeholders.

The role supports increased Aboriginal participation in education, training, apprenticeships, traineeships, and employment while strengthening partnerships with employers, government agencies, educational institutions, and community organisations.

Duties include but not limited to:

• Assist Aboriginal individuals to access apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities.

• Provide job search assistance, including resume preparation, interview coaching, application support, and employment readiness activities.

• Deliver mentoring and ongoing support to clients throughout their employment, training, or career development journey.

• Provide information and guidance regarding training opportunities, skills recognition, qualifications, and career development pathways.

• Support individuals to overcome barriers to employment through referrals and connections to appropriate services.

• Maintain accurate records of client interactions, outcomes, and support activities 

Essential Criteria

• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal cultures, communities, and employment challenges.
• Experience providing employment, recruitment, workforce development, or community engagement services.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
• Experience facilitating workshops, presentations, or training sessions.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and client management systems.
• Current driver’s licence.

Desirable criteria

•  Relevant qualifications in Community Services, Employment Services, Human Resources, Education, Training, or a related field.
• Experience working with Aboriginal employment programs, apprenticeships, traineeships, or workforce development initiatives.
• Existing networks within Aboriginal communities, schools, employers, and training providers.

Pre-employment requirements

☒ Satisfactory Criminal History Check (not older than 6 months)

☒ Current Working with children clearance

☒ Current Australian unrestricted ‘C’ class Driver’s license
