Wunan Foundation is a leading Aboriginal development organisation based in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Its purpose is to ensure that Aboriginal people enjoy the capabilities and opportunities necessary to make positive choices that lead to independent, fulfilling lives.

Wunan delivers the Driver Training Program in the East Kimberley. Programs are funded by the WA Department of Transport (DoT) and Department of Justice (DoJ).

 

We are seeking a passionate Driver Trainer who wants to contribute to improving, supporting and implementing change in a range of driver training services to ensure quality, and

customer focused services to the remote and rural East Kimberley community, working alongside a remarkable and enthusiastic team.

The Driver Trainer role is a full-time position based in our Kununurra office.

 

Key Duties

 

The Driver Trainer will work cohesively with referred clients in both programs. The prime focus of the position is to assist people towards obtaining a driver’s licence through all required steps including identification, fine payment arrangements, test bookings and driving lessons.

Support will continue until the licence is granted successfully across both programs.

Requirements of the role

Essential Criteria:

  • Current unrestricted Australian Driver’s License
  • Current Driver training accreditation or willingness to complete
  • Availability to travel for work related purposes
  • Ability to take initiative and work autonomously as well as work co-operatively as part of a team
  • A demonstrated commitment to the core mission of Wunan
  • National Police Check / NDIS Worker Screening / WWC check

 

Desirable criteria:

  • A strong understanding of Indigenous people in general, and of Indigenous people and communities in the East Kimberley in particular
  • Capacity to manage Microsoft applications and systems and processes that deliver measurable outcomes
  • First Aid and CPR

Pre-employment requirements

All Wunan staff are required to hold or be willing to obtain the following prior to their commencement:

  • Satisfactory Criminal History Check (not older than 6 months)
  • Current Working with children clearance
  • Current Australian unrestricted ‘C’ class Driver’s license
