THE OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Settlement, Family, and Resilience Services to join our leadership team. This role sits within our Settlement, Family and Resilience Services portfolio, bringing together programs that support newly arrived migrants, families experiencing hardship, women and girls, and people needing specialist or family support.

The purpose of this role is to provide strategic leadership across the portfolio, overseeing program delivery, financial performance, funding growth and team development, so that migrants, refugees and families across Western Sydney receive coordinated, high-quality support during settlement and beyond. This role supports people living in Liverpool, Macarthur and Western Sydney local government areas.

This is a pivotal time to join WSMRC, with a strong focus on securing new funding opportunities, leading tender and grant submissions, and strengthening partnerships to expand settlement, family and resilience services in response to growing community need. You will have genuine autonomy to shape the strategic direction of a diverse and meaningful program portfolio, build strong relationships with government and community stakeholders, and lead a team committed to helping people rebuild their lives in Australia.

This position is classified as Social and Community Services Employee, Level 6 or 7 under the SCHADS Award.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide strategic oversight of program delivery, ensuring services meet funding, contractual and legislative requirements
• Lead and develop program teams, including recruitment, coaching and performance management
• Identify and pursue new funding opportunities, and lead the development of grant and tender submissions
• Develop and manage program budgets, monitoring financial performance and reporting on variances
• Build and maintain relationships with government, funders, and community organisations to strengthen partnerships and service delivery
• Represent WSMRC at sector forums, working groups and community networks
• Oversee accurate and timely reporting on program performance, outcomes and compliance
• Drive continuous improvement across systems, processes and service delivery practices
• Ensure coordination and referral pathways across settlement, family, resilience and specialist services
• Promote a safe, inclusive and supportive workplace culture across the team

ABOUT YOU

You will bring

• A relevant degree in social work, community services, social services, management or a related discipline
• At least 5 years’ experience in program management, including service delivery, reporting and financial management
• Demonstrated experience leading teams, including coaching, performance management and building capability
• Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting
• Demonstrated experience in grant and funding development, including preparing submissions and managing acquittals
• Strong understanding of the government, non-government and philanthropic funding environment
• Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent the organisation externally
• A current or ability to obtain a Working with Children Check and National Police Check. Please note that due to program requirements, applicants must identify as a woman under the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW)

It would be great if you also have

• Demonstrated knowledge of CALD community services, particularly family relationship and domestic violence, migration and settlement, or children and family services
• Experience working across community development, program development and continuous improvement
• Demonstrated strategic thinking and commercial acumen to identify opportunities for program growth and sustainability
• Confidence using Microsoft 365 and Customer Relationship Management software
