Description

We are seeking a hands-on Property Maintenance Assistant to support the care and upkeep of our property portfolio. This 32 hour permanent varied role would suit someone with broad maintenance or trade experience who enjoys solving problems, working independently and being part of a wider team.

Ngā mahi | What You’ll Be Doing

Reporting to the Facility Services Manager, you will undertake preventative and reactive building maintenance across the Waitangi National Trust estate.

Tasks include include:

  • Minor carpentry, patching, painting, plumbing etc
  • Repairing doors, windows, locks, latches, fittings and fixtures
  • Cleaning gutters and completing exterior upkeep and weatherproofing tasks
  • Keeping accurate records of inspections, repairs, materials and outstanding work
  • Supporting contractors and tradespeople working on-site
  • Assisting with grounds maintenance, estate presentation and event preparation when required

Ō pūkenga | Your Skills & Experience

  • Practical experience in property maintenance or a related trade
  • Experience completing minor repairs and maintenance tasks safely and to a good standard
  • Confidence using common hand tools, power tools and maintenance equipment
  • Good practical judgement and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to organise your workload and adapt when priorities change
  • Clear and respectful communication skills
  • A strong awareness of workplace health and safety
  • A current full New Zealand Driver Licence

Certifications in working at heights, ladder safety, chemical handling or equipment operation would be an advantage.
