Description

Ready to step up and lead?

If you know parts, understand heavy vehicles and are ready for more responsibility, this could be the career move you have been looking for.

VDI Australia is growing, and we are looking for a Parts Manager to join our Prestons operation. This opportunity could suit an experienced Parts Supervisor, 2IC or emerging leader ready to move into management, as well as a current Parts Manager looking to develop their career with a growing national business.

You will take ownership of the day-to-day parts operation at Prestons, lead and develop the warehouse team, support our customers and work closely with Service, Workshop, Warranty and Sales.

Importantly, you will not be expected to know everything from day one. You will be supported by experienced leaders, including our National Parts Manager, while continuing to build your leadership capability, commercial understanding and confidence in the role.

If you are looking for a position where you can take ownership, develop your people and grow with the business, we would like to hear from you.

About VDI Australia

VDI (Vehicle Dealers International) Australia is a proudly Australian, family-owned business and the national distributor of Yutong buses and coaches. Yutong is the world’s largest bus manufacturer, including the Yutong E12 battery electric city bus.

As our Australian operations continue to grow, so does the opportunity for our people to grow with us.

What You Will Own

This is a hands-on leadership position with responsibility for keeping our Prestons parts operation running safely, efficiently and with a strong focus on our customers.

You will:

  • Lead and develop your team, providing direction, training, support and clear expectations.
  • Own the day-to-day parts operation, ensuring customers, technicians and internal teams receive the parts and support they need.
  • Build strong customer relationships through knowledgeable advice, responsive service and effective issue resolution.
  • Manage inventory, stock levels, replenishment, stocktakes and NSW reporting requirements.
  • Prepare accurate quotations, estimates and customer orders.
  • Coordinate freight and logistics, including inbound sea and air freight, courier bookings and order dispatch.
  • Monitor backorders, investigate stock and service issues, and review lost sales and Vehicle Off Road (VOR) requirements.
  • Maintain a safe, organised and compliant warehouse operation.
  • Track key performance measures and customer outcomes to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Work closely with our Service, Workshop, Warranty and Sales teams to support our customers and broader national operation.

What You Will Bring

You do not need to be a long-term manager to succeed in this role. What matters is that you understand parts operations, can work with people and are ready to take ownership.

We are looking for:

  • Previous parts experience within the heavy vehicle, bus, truck or automotive industry.
  • Supervisory, team leadership or management experience.
  • The ability to train, support and coordinate warehouse team members.
  • Pentana experience, which is mandatory for this role.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy-duty vehicle parts.
  • Experience with inventory management, stocktaking and reporting.
  • A strong customer service mindset and willingness to resolve issues.
  • Sound knowledge of freight and logistics processes.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisation and accountability.
  • The confidence to work autonomously and make day-to-day operational decisions.
  • A current C Class Driver Licence.
  • A High Risk Work Licence for forklift operations would be highly regarded.

Why Join VDI Australia?

We are looking for more than someone to simply manage parts. We want someone who wants to develop as a leader and build a career with us.

At VDI Australia, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Step into a genuine leadership position and make it your own.
  • Work with an established national parts and aftersales operation.
  • Receive comprehensive in-house training and ongoing support.
  • Build your knowledge of evolving bus and battery electric vehicle technology.
  • Develop your leadership and management capability.
  • Work closely with experienced leaders across the business.
  • Join a growing Australian organisation where your contribution is visible and valued.

We are DRIVEN by our values of Dedication, Responsibility, Innovation, Value, Excellence and Nurture. These values shape how we work, how we support our customers and how we treat one another.

If you have built your experience in parts and are thinking “I am ready for the next step”, we want to hear from you.
