Job summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Quokka Conservation Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the conservation efforts of the quokka population on Rottnest Island, Western Australia. This role involves conducting research, implementing conservation strategies, and educating the public about the importance of preserving this iconic species.

– Strong background in wildlife conservation

– Excellent research and data analysis skills

– Knowledge of quokka behavior and habitat requirements

– Effective communication and presentation skills

– Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities:

– Conduct research on quokka populations, including monitoring population trends and identifying threats to their survival

– Develop and implement conservation strategies to protect quokkas from predators, habitat loss, and other threats

– Collaborate with other stakeholders, such as government agencies and community groups, to promote quokka conservation efforts

– Educate the public about the importance of conserving quokkas through outreach programs, presentations, and educational materials

Qualifications:

– Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, or related field (Master’s degree preferred)

– Minimum 2 years of experience in wildlife conservation or related field

– Experience working with endangered species is a plus

– Valid driver’s license

– Strong knowledge of Australian wildlife laws

– Must be willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions
