Description

Do you love lifeguarding, keeping guests safe, and are passionate about surfing? Join our crew!

We are looking for Lifeguards to join our team at URBNSURF Sydney in Sydney Olympic Park.

The Role

Being a Lifeguard at URBNSURF isn’t your typical poolside gig. It’s a chance to work in a one-of-a-kind aquatic environment while being part of the fast-growing surf park industry.

Safety is our highest priority, and your number one responsibility is keeping our guests safe in and around the waves while ensuring they have an awesome experience every time they visit. This means staying fully attentive and proactive at all times—identifying potential hazards, preventing incidents before they happen, and ensuring everyone enjoys their session safely.

You’ll also work closely with our Surf Guides and Duty Managers to deliver a safe and memorable guest experience.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for qualified Pool Lifeguards with experience in aquatic environments such as surf lifesaving, swim teaching, or other water safety roles.

You will also have:

  • Confidence paddling a rescue board in surf conditions.
  • A love for working in and around the water, while being comfortable in all Sydney weather conditions—sun, rain, heat, or cold.
  • A friendly, positive, flexible, and adaptable attitude with strong time management skills.
  • Availability to work a minimum of 2 shifts per week, including at least one weekend day, with flexibility to work outside standard 9:00 am–5:00 pm hours.

Required

  • Current Pool Lifeguard qualification.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications.
  • Working With Children Check (if 18 years or older).
  • Ability to swim confidently in an aquatic environment featuring strong rip currents and breaking waves, with experience paddling a surfboard or rescue board.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and confidently deliver emergency response procedures in a professional and composed manner.
  • Must attend onsite quarterly Lifeguard training

Preferred (but not essential)

  • At least one season of experience working as a Lifeguard.
  • OSSCA – Australian Professional Ocean Lifeguard Association qualification.
  • SLSA Bronze Medallion.
  • Surf Rescue Certificate (SLSA Community Award).

  • You must hold the required qualifications before applying. Unfortunately, we can’t consider applications without them. If you need to obtain your Pool Lifeguard qualification, visit: https://www.royallifesaving.com.au/training-development/training-courses/pool-lifeguard-courses
  • You must be available for at least 2 shifts per week, with one shift on the weekend (Friday evening, Saturday, or Sunday). Regular weekend availability is essential.
  • URBNSURF Sydney operates between 6:00 am and midnight, depending on the season, so flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays is highly desirable.

  • Casual role with a minimum of 2 shifts per week.
  • Pay Guide: Amusement, Events & Recreation Award – Grade 3 (Casual).
