About the opportunity 

Unison Solar Energy is expanding its quality and technical capability to support the next phase of our growth. We are recruiting a Reliability & Laboratory Engineer to establish and lead our laboratory, reliability testing, calibration and technical test governance capability.

In this role, you will lead the development and implementation of laboratory test methods, reliability testing, equipment calibration, metrological traceability and technical governance, while partnering across R&D, Quality and Manufacturing on validation, certification and technical investigations

Responsibilities  

• Establish and lead Unison Solar Energy’s quality laboratory, reliability testing, calibration and technical test governance framework.
• Plan and coordinate reliability and laboratory testing across IV, EL, PID, UV, environmental, mechanical and electrical safety testing.
• Manage laboratory equipment, including procurement, commissioning, calibration, maintenance, performance checks and metrological traceability.
• Lead laboratory competency, training and authorisation requirements, including supervision and ongoing capability assessment of testing personnel.
• Support product certification, CEC submissions, product validation and trial production while maintaining laboratory controls and accreditation readiness.
• Monitor laboratory performance and drive continuous improvement in testing efficiency, reliability, data quality and technical capability.

 What you will bring 

• A degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Materials Engineering, Renewable Energy, Physics or a related engineering or science discipline.

• 5+ years’ experience in product validation, reliability or engineering laboratory testing, including hands-on test equipment, methods and technical reporting.
• Experience in laboratory equipment installation and commissioning, calibration, metrology, sample control and maintaining accurate, traceable data and records.
• Strong technical judgement and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess test validity, abnormal results, deviations and retesting requirements.
• Proven ability to plan laboratory activities, manage priorities and coordinate technicians, suppliers and external service providers.
• Strong understanding of laboratory safety, with a high level of attention to detail and commitment to reliable, traceable data and records.
• Experience with ISO/IEC 17025, NATA or laboratory quality systems will be highly regarded.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across R&D, Quality and Manufacturing.
