We are looking for an experienced and motivated Orchard Team Leader to join our team based in Paengaroa, reporting to the Production Manager.

About the Role

This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for leading orchard teams through daily canopy and orchard activities while ensuring high-quality fruit production and strong team performance.

You will play a key role in coordinating work programmes, mentoring supervisors and team members, operating machinery, monitoring orchard quality, and ensuring health and safety standards are maintained at all times.

This role suits someone who enjoys working outdoors, leading people, solving problems, and contributing to a values-driven organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate day-to-day orchard canopy activities
  • Support and mentor canopy supervisors and orchard staff
  • Allocate workloads and monitor daily production plans
  • Operate orchard machinery and support maintenance activities
  • Ensure canopy and fruit quality standards are achieved
  • Drive team productivity and continuous improvement
  • Provide training and support to team members
  • Complete daily reporting and weekly timesheet reviews
  • Promote a positive team culture and resolve issues proactively
  • Maintain strong health and safety practices across all operations

What We’re Looking For

You will bring:

  • Minimum 3 years’ senior horticulture supervision experience
  • NZQA Horticulture Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Experience operating orchard machinery
  • Good planning, communication, and organisational skills
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach
  • A strong commitment to health and safety
