We are looking for a motivated and hands-on Orchard Specialist & Machinery Operator to join our horticulture team in Paengaroa, reporting to the Production Manager.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys outdoor work, takes pride in maintaining high orchard standards, and is confident operating machinery in a safe and efficient manner.

About the Role

As part of our orchard team, you will support day-to-day orchard operations and production activities across a range of seasonal tasks. The role combines practical orchard work with machinery and equipment operation, contributing to the ongoing productivity and presentation of our orchards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Canopy maintenance including pruning, thinning, girdling and picking
  • Supporting orchard production activities
  • Orchard maintenance including crop protection, repairs and general tidiness
  • Operating and maintaining orchard machinery and vehicles
  • Operating crop spray applicators safely and effectively
  • Maintaining orchard structures and equipment
  • Contributing positively as part of a collaborative orchard team
  • Ensuring safe work practices across all orchard operations

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous orchard or horticulture experience
  • Is practical, reliable and physically fit
  • Has experience operating machinery or is willing to learn
  • Takes pride in producing quality outcomes
  • Works well within a team environment
  • Has strong attention to detail
  • Is safety conscious and proactive
  • Learns quickly and has a positive attitude
