Description
Be Part of History
The Tasmania Football Club is on a historic journey to build Tasmania’s AFL and AFLW club from the ground up.
As our VFL, VFLW and Academy programs continue to grow, we’re building the medical and athlete support team that will help create safe, professional and well-organised training and competition environments across our football programs.
We’re looking for three Sports Trainers to join our growing High Performance team:
Opportunities Available:
Sports Trainer – VFL | 1 position
Sports Trainer – VFLW | 1 position
These two roles will lead sports trainer operations within their respective VFL or VFLW program.
Working closely with the program’s Head Physiotherapist, each Trainer will provide strapping and taping, first aid, and immediate injury support across training, matches, practice matches and camps. They will prepare and maintain medical rooms, kits and consumables, communicate injuries and incidents to the medical team, and help ensure consistent service standards.
These roles require availability across evening training and weekend competition, with some travel also forming part of the working model.
Sports Trainer – Academy | 1 position
The Academy Sports Trainer will provide sports trainer support across Academy training, testing and camps, while also providing additional support across VFL and VFLW where required.
You’ll provide strapping and taping, first aid and immediate injury support, prepare medical-room areas, kits and equipment, and communicate injuries and incidents to the relevant Physiotherapist.
The role will primarily support Academy training and development environments, helping ensure consistent standards of athlete care as players progress through our pathway.
The Academy role will predominantly involve evening sessions, testing and camps with occasional weekend and VFL/VFLW crossover or relief support.
What you’ll bring
Across all three opportunities, we’re looking for reliable, professional Sports Trainers who care about athlete wellbeing and enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary football environment.
You’ll bring:
- A current Sports Trainer qualification
- Current First Aid and CPR appropriate to the duties
- Strong communication skills and the ability to respond appropriately to injuries and incidents
- Reliability and availability for evening training and other scheduled program activity
- A professional, collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively with physiotherapists, medical staff, coaches and members of the High Performance team
