Role Purpose
The Membership and Ticketing Manager is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of the Club’s membership and ticketing programs, achieving agreed sales, renewal, attendance and revenue targets.
Working in partnership with the Head of Consumer, this role helps shape membership and ticketing strategy, pricing and budgets and takes ownership of translating agreed priorities into annual delivery plans. The role owns systems readiness, member service and match-day membership and ticketing operations. The role leads the Membership Team Leader, Membership and Ticketing Coordinator and supports the casual team to deliver efficient operations and exceptional experiences for members and fans.
Key Focus Areas
Membership Operations
- Own the annual membership delivery plan, including product setup, renewals, on-sales, payment plans and member entitlements.
- Manage membership season builds in Archtics, ensuring approved products, pricing, access rights and renewal settings are accurate and tested before launch.
- Manage automatic renewals, payment processing and outstanding payment follow-up, working with Finance to resolve exceptions.
- Own the delivery of membership benefits and fulfilment, working with Retail and the fulfilment partner to ensure accurate files, timely delivery and issue resolution.
Member Acquisition and Retention
- Deliver acquisition, renewal and lapsed member campaigns with Marketing, including campaign timelines, audience lists, member communications and outbound sales activity.
- Set sales priorities and targets for the team, monitor results and adjust activity to improve conversion and retention.
- Use member feedback and sales trends and performance insights to help shape membership product, pricing and benefits in partnership with the Head of Consumer.
Ticketing and Match Day Operations
- Own ticketing delivery for the Club’s home fixtures across VFL/VFLW and AFL/AFLW as the Club enters each competition, including finals requirements.
- Manage event builds, approved pricing, seating plans, allocations, holds, release schedules and member priority access with ticketing providers and venues.
- Check and test ticket sales, member access and digital tickets before each on-sale and fixture.
- Manage ticket allocations for members, premium products, staff, Football, Commercial and other Club stakeholders within approved policies.
- Own match-day membership and ticketing plans, including staffing requirements, service locations, access troubleshooting and contingency arrangements.
- Work with Marketing and venue teams to drive ticket sales and attendance, monitoring sales, capacity and member attendance to inform ticket releases.
- Manage day-to-day relationships with ticketing providers, venues and the AFL for membership and ticketing requirements.
Member Experience and Service
- Set service standards across phone, email, online and in-person channels, and ensure the team delivers professional, timely and friendly service.
- Resolve complex complaints and escalations referred by the Membership Team Leader, escalating significant issues to the Head of Consumer.
- Ensure membership and ticketing information, FAQs and service procedures are accurate and current.
- Work with Events, Retail, Marketing and Operations to deliver member benefits, priority access and premium member services.
Systems Data and Reporting
- Manage the day-to-day use of Archtics and ticketing platforms, including system access, configuration, testing and issue resolution.
- Ensure membership and ticketing records, communication lists and member entitlements are accurate and maintained in line with Club privacy and data requirements.
- Work with the Data team to resolve data flow issues between ticketing systems, Salesforce and communication platforms, and improve reporting and automation.
- Provide regular reporting on membership sales, renewals, ticket revenue, attendance, service performance and fulfilment.
- Manage approved operating budgets, check supplier invoices and complete ticketing and payment reconciliations with Finance. Flag variances and recommend action to the Head of Consumer.
Team Leadership and Continuous Improvement
- Lead and develop the Membership Team, setting clear priorities, performance measures and accountability for delivery.
- Ensure the Team plans, trains and manages the casual workforce to meet sales, service and match-day requirements.
- Maintain clear procedures and delivery calendars, and improve processes to reduce errors, manual work and repeat enquiries.
- Support the Head of Consumer with planning for AFL/AFLW entry, including membership products, seating allocations, ticketing systems and service capacity.
- Role model and champion The Devils Way in team leadership and every member and fan interaction.
Critical Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated experience managing membership or ticketing programs, ideally in an AFL, elite sporting, event or entertainment environment.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with membership and ticketing systems, including product builds, renewals, managing ticket inventory and reporting. Experience with Archtics, Ticketmaster, Ticketek and Salesforce is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to lead and develop sales or service teams and deliver acquisition, retention and revenue results.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and operational programs.
- Strong data literacy and Excel skills, with experience using sales, attendance and service reporting to inform decisions.
- Experience managing budgets, supplier relationships and match-day ticketing operations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a practical, solution-focused approach to complaints and operational issues.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and work hands-on in a start-up/build phase environment.
