Established in 1976, Taldumande Youth Services is a leading not-for-profit organisation supporting children and young people aged 10–24 years across Sydney through successful homelessness, family and youth justice programs.

We’re looking for an experienced, motivated and compassionate Caseworker to join our expanding Families and Justice Team on a full-time, fixed-term contract until December 2028. This role supports a unique, evidence-based Family Restoration and Preservation Program, delivering intensive outreach support to families across Greater Parramatta and Western Sydney.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

 

As a Caseworker, you will deliver intensive, client-centred casework support to families with children and young people aged 12–16 years, helping to reduce risk, strengthen family relationships and promote the safety, wellbeing and long-term stability of children, young people and their families.

  • Work collaboratively within a passionate, multidisciplinary team to strengthen family functioning, reduce the risk of homelessness and support family preservation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, police, government agencies and community organisations.
  • Respond effectively to crisis situations, prioritising the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and families.
  • Provide high-quality case management, including assessment, case planning, referrals and case conferences.
  • Apply trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches tailored to the needs and risks of each young person and family.

You are a skilled practitioner who thrives in complex environments and is passionate about achieving meaningful outcomes for vulnerable families. You communicate clearly, manage competing priorities, build trusted relationships and bring a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach to your work.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services, Social Sciences or a related discipline
  • Minimum two years’ experience delivering case management with at-risk children and young people.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and time-management skills, with strong networking and relationship-building capabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution and trauma-informed practice.
  • Current NSW Driver’s Licence and insured vehicle, valid Working With Children Check and National Police Check, and current First Aid Certificate.

 

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working within the Parramatta and Western Sydney regions.
  • Proven ability to build rapport with children and young people.
  • Experience working with family systems.
  • Knowledge or experience in Brief Solution Focused Therapy and/or strengths-based practice.
