About the Role

Strive Community Care provides therapeutic home environments for children and young people with histories of complex trauma, abuse and neglect.

We utilise a strong Therapeutic Framework and our unique CREATE Model of Care, with a focus on establishing holistic safety for children and young people in Out-of-Home Care (OOHC). We provide children and young people with a sense of family, support to heal, opportunities to build positive connections, and the support they need to rebuild their lives.

We are seeking an experienced Therapeutic Care Manager to play a key role in supporting children and young people on their healing journey. The successful applicant will be responsible for effectively managing a number of therapeutic residential OOHC programs across the Sunshine Coast and Central Queensland region, specifically Gympie.

Your regular workplace will be your home office; however, regular attendance at our residential programs is required.

This is a permanent, part-time position, working Monday to Friday, with some weekend and after-hours on-call management responsibilities required.

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Managing the day-to-day operations of a small number of therapeutic residential OOHC programs in the Sunshine Coast and Central Queensland (Gympie) region, including safety planning, crisis response and person-centred care strategies.
  • Embedding Strive’s Therapeutic Framework by overseeing the best-practice implementation of tailored care for children and young people and fostering an outcomes-focused team through the CREATE Model of Care.
  • Building and maintaining professional and responsive relationships with key stakeholders through phone, email and face-to-face engagement as part of collaborative casework and care.
  • Developing and managing program rosters to ensure appropriate staffing and continuity of care.
  • Providing leadership, supervision, support and mentoring to teams of Therapeutic Care Workers.
  • Ensuring OOHC reporting requirements are met and that all program documentation is maintained in accordance with relevant legislative, regulatory and organisational requirements.
  • Supporting effective program planning, administration and financial accountability.
  • Responding to incidents, emergencies and other operational matters as required.
  • Participating in occasional after-hours and weekend on-call responsibilities.

About You

We are looking for an experienced and passionate professional who is committed to improving outcomes for children and young people who have experienced trauma and disadvantage.

The successful applicant will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification, ideally in Social Work, Psychology or a related discipline. A minimum Certificate IV qualification in a relevant field such as Youth Work, Social Work, Social Science or Counselling is essential.
  • Demonstrated management experience within residential OOHC, including a strong understanding of therapeutic practice, legislative and regulatory requirements, and staff support and development.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing case plans, safety plans and behaviour support plans, as well as completing case notes and professional reports.
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively and respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people, families and communities.
  • Demonstrated experience working with children and young people who have experienced complex trauma, abuse and neglect.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organisational and leadership skills.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • A current Australian Driver Licence.A genuine commitment to child safety, therapeutic practice and supporting positive outcomes for children and young people.
  • A valid Blue Card and Yellow Card, or willingness and ability to obtain the required clearances.
