Role Type
Description
Processing Operator / Factory Hand – Stainless Steel Processing | WA
Full-time or part-time, Monday to Friday, at our Bibra Lake Distribution Centre. Our operating hours are 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, with a range of shift options available.
The Opportunity
We’re seeking a full-time Processing Operator to join our Processing team. Reporting to the Workshop Manager – Processing, you’ll keep our workshop and warehouse moving: putting away plate and remnants, supporting our laser and saw operations, and getting finished orders checked, packed and out the door. You’ll make sure the right material is on the right machine at the right time, and that every order leaves to specification. This role suits someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in a safe and tidy workplace, and likes learning new machinery.
We’re happy to train the right person on additional production machinery as you develop.
What We’re Looking For
You’ll need a current forklift licence, and a Dogman’s licence is recommended. You’ll have intermediate knowledge of warehousing procedures, and experience with overhead gantry cranes and the safe use of lifting equipment. Knowledge of stainless steel products is highly regarded, as is an understanding of how to care for, maintain and handle them. You’ll be comfortable reading and updating work orders, and using an app to despatch finished goods.
What we really value is how you work. We’re after someone who is safety-minded, organised and reliable, who can prioritise tasks to meet production schedules, and who takes pride in quality. You’ll work closely with the Processing team, our Scheduling & Nesting team, with a professional and respectful approach. If you pitch in to help teammates, take ownership of an order from plate to despatch rather than passing problems along, and enjoy learning new machines, you’ll do well here.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Product Put-Away & Storage
- Put away plate and remnant product safely and on time, in line with company optimisation and pick-path directives
- Handle works-order products onto the specified cutting machine, in compliance with OH&S procedures
- Support the Processing team with receivals of incoming stock
- Help plan and maintain our warehouse housekeeping layout, and take part in daily housekeeping
Machine & Order Support (Laser and Saw)
- Assist with laser and saw machines (as/if required)
- Safely operate gantry cranes, Combi machines and forklifts in line with your training and competency
- Load, unload and handle materials for laser cutting and saw operations
- Receive job sheets and works orders, and process them as instructed
- Assist Scheduling & Nesting so programs are ready at least 24 hours ahead, and flag any issues with nests or allocated remnants
Post-Processing & Despatch
- Check processed material against the works order, then clean it by removing dross, burr or impurities
- Label and mark finished product and remnants or offcuts as the works order instructs
- Trim remnants and skeletons before storage, and relocate them to the correct bin location
- Pack finished orders to company packing policy and SPS specification for safe transport, then despatch them using the app
Workplace & Team
- Keep the workshop clean, safe and organised, including equipment care and waste management
- Report, identify and where possible resolve machinery issues or errors
- Support your teammates, and be willing to train on additional production machinery
- Adhere to all OH&S policies and procedures
Responsibilities are not limited to those listed above.
