Who We Are
Spectran Group is a proudly Tasmanian, family-owned business offering specialised solutions in civil contracting, environmental management, transport, and traffic services.
About the Role
We’re growing our Traffic Management division and looking for the right person to join our team as a Traffic Management Designer.
This role would suit someone who already has relevant experience—perhaps you’re currently working in traffic design, traffic management, civil construction, or you’re a qualified civil engineer ready to bring your skills into a more dynamic and hands-on environment.
You’ll be responsible for creating traffic guidance schemes and working closely with clients and contractors to deliver safe, compliant and efficient traffic solutions.
While formal qualifications and industry knowledge are highly regarded, what matters most is your attitude, reliability and ability to work collaboratively. If you bring the right experience and a strong work ethic, we’ll support you with training and upskilling where needed.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:
• Creating detailed and accurate Traffic Guidance Schemes and Management Plans in line with regulations, codes and client needs.
• Liaising with clients to understand project timelines and advise on traffic management requirements.
• Supporting clients with their temporary traffic management needs, from project concept to completion.
• Conducting risk assessments and recommending safe and effective traffic control solutions.
• Preparing and tracking permits and supporting documentation, ensuring timely approvals.
• Communicating effectively with our internal schedulers and operations managers to coordinate delivery.
• Managing plan variations and site-specific documentation.
You’ll Thrive in This Role If You:
• Have a positive, proactive mindset and love a bit of a challenge.
• Are a strong communicator, able to liaise with a variety of people—from field teams to clients.
• Bring excellent time management, planning and organisational skills.
• Can work independently and also as part of a team.
• Want to build a career in a niche, essential industry with a growing team.
What We’re Looking For:
We’re ready to train and upskill the right candidate. Ideally, you’ll bring:
• Current Driver’s Licence
• Full Australian working rights
• Confidence with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
• Experience in traffic management, construction, logistics, or other relevant coordination-focused roles
• A solid understanding of WHS principles and how to apply them in practice
• A curious mind and willingness to learn new skills and systems
Sound Like You?
If you’re someone who’s organised, a great communicator, and ready to take on a new challenge with full support behind you, we’d love to hear from you.
Apply now with your resume and a short cover letter outlining why you’re a great fit for this role—even if you don’t tick every technical box.
