Are you a skilled and motivated Dispatcher looking for an exciting new opportunity?

Smart Environmental is seeking a dedicated team member to join our Rolleston-based team and support our mission to recycle tyres efficiently and responsibly. This is an entry level office based role with on job training provided.

Smart Environmental Limited works on behalf of local councils, businesses, and communities across New Zealand. Acquired by Blue Planet, our mission is to divert waste from landfill, and with a large fleet of collection vehicles and line haul operations, we are committed to driving sustainability for the communities and businesses we serve.

Key responsibilities: As part of the operations team, you will be responsible for the real-time coordination and execution of tyre collection services, ensuring efficient, compliant, and timely service delivery.

  • Coordinate and manage daily tyre collection routes and driver schedules in real time
  • Provide ongoing communication to drivers regarding route instructions, changes, and operational updates
  • Monitor live collection progress and proactively adjust routes to address delays, disruptions, or changing conditions
  • Identify, escalate, and support resolution of operational issues to minimise service disruption
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of routes, collections, and delivery activities
  • Ensure all dispatch activities comply with transport regulations, company policies, and environmental standards
  • Optimise route execution to improve efficiency, reduce delays, and minimise fuel usage and operational costs
  •  Act as the central point of contact between drivers and the operations team during daily collection activities

Skills and Experience

  • Exposure to logistics, transport coordination, customer service, or office-based roles is advantageous
  • Basic understanding of route planning or operational processes is beneficial
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to liaise with drivers and internal teams
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a structured environment
  • Attention to detail, particularly in maintaining accurate records and data entry
  • Ability to follow instructions and respond to changing priorities in a timely manner
  • Willingness to learn and develop within a fast-paced operational environment
  • Commitment to safety, compliance, and environmental standards
  • Basic Excel skills or willingness to learn
