ABOUT US
Slattery Grays Auction Group is proudly Australia’s largest national family-owned auction company, and a leading auction and valuation practice. With over 15 sites across Australia, we specialise in automotive, road transport, earthmoving, mining, marine, consumer goods and aviation asset advisory and disposal services.
At Slattery Grays, our values aren’t just words on a wall. They shape how we work every day. We back our people, building genuine relationships and standing by each other. We pursue excellence in everything from customer service to the way we innovate and improve. We do the right thing, earning trust through integrity and accountability. And because great results come from great teams, we make sure we enjoy the ride along the way.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a genuinely interesting place to recruit. One week you might be headhunting a senior sales leader, the next you’re filling yard and warehouse roles across three states, then finding a developer or a marketer for our corporate team. Our people range from forklift operators to valuers, BDMs and tech specialists, working across a huge variety of assets, all over the country – there’s never a dull moment.
You’ll own recruitment across the business and partner with leaders and the P&C team to find great people who share our values and will thrive here. It’s busy, varied and fast-paced, and you’ll have plenty of ownership from day one.
This is a 12-month fixed-term contract with the potential to extend or become permanent. It’s hybrid and can be based at either our Pinkenba (QLD) or St Leonards (NSW) site. You’ll join a small P&C team that works hard, laughs a lot and genuinely enjoys working together. We pitch in, back each other and we take our work seriously, but not ourselves.
What you’ll be doing:
- Managing end-to-end recruitment across a high volume of roles, from yard, warehouse and operational positions through to sales, specialist and corporate roles
- Direct sourcing and headhunting for key and hard-to-fill roles, particularly in sales and business development, using talent mapping and direct approach across our industry and adjacent sectors
- Partnering with hiring managers to understand what they really need, challenge where it helps, and agree on a clear plan for each role
- Writing compelling job ads and building a strong, consistent employer brand across Seek, LinkedIn and other channels
- Screening, interviewing and shortlisting, with a sharp eye for capability and values alignment
- Running reference checks, preparing offers and handing over smoothly to onboarding
- Building talent pipelines for roles we hire regularly, so we’re not starting from scratch every time
- Tracking and reporting on recruitment activity, time to hire and source effectiveness, and using that data to improve how we hire and the experience for candidates and managers
- Using AI tools and technology to work smarter, from sourcing to drafting to admin, while keeping your own judgement at the centre of every decision
- Looking for ways to make our recruitment processes simpler, faster and a better experience for candidates and managers
ABOUT YOU
You’re a confident, self-driven recruiter who knows what good looks like and moves at pace. You can juggle a big workload without dropping the detail, and you’re just as comfortable sourcing ten yardhands as you are tracking down one standout sales leader. You’ve got energy, initiative and you get stuck in!
You will bring:
- Solid experience in an in-house talent acquisition role, agency recruitment, or both
- A proven track record of direct sourcing and headhunting, especially for sales or commercial roles
- Experience recruiting high volumes of operational and frontline roles alongside professional and corporate hires
- Strong stakeholder skills and the confidence to guide and influence hiring managers
- Comfort using AI tools to boost your effectiveness, with the judgement to know where they help and where they don’t
- Experience with an ATS or HRIS (Employment Hero is a bonus)
- Clear, friendly communication, with discretion and confidentiality at all times
BENEFITS & PERKS
We offer hybrid working with flexibility, a stocked fridge and pantry, a $40 monthly voucher, a free EAP program, novated leasing and superannuation salary sacrifice.
