Warehouse Team Leader

New Zealand • New Lynn, Auckland 0640, New Zealand • Full-time

Description

Simba Global is a home textiles business with operations across Australia, New Zealand and international markets. We design, source and distribute large product ranges through a complex multi‑channel supply chain, servicing retail, wholesale and direct customers.

Our warehousing and logistics operations are central to our success. We operate fast‑paced, high‑volume environments with a strong focus on inventory accuracy, system integrity and continuous improvement. We invest in technology, data and process to drive smarter freight planning, real‑time visibility and efficient warehouse operations.

You can be a part of the Simba difference.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced warehouse professional who is ready for more than a standard forklift role. This is a hands-on senior position for someone who enjoys being on the floor moving stock, but also wants responsibility for systems, planning, inventory control, and communication across the supply chain. For the right person, this role provides a clear pathway into a Warehouse Supervisor or Team Leader position.

If you have strong warehousing fundamentals, confidence with systems, and like taking ownership of how work gets done, we want to hear from you.

Specifically, your responsibilities will include:

  • Operating forklifts (counterbalance and reach) for receipting, putaway, picking, staging and dispatch.
  • Container devanning and loading, including planning and sequencing of inbound freight.
  • Coordinating freight movements and liaising with freight forwarders, transport providers and drivers.
  • Managing receipting, inventory control, stock investigations and adjustments.
  • Running and interpreting inventory and operational reports.
  • Supporting and coordinating stock counts and cycle counts.
  • Maintaining accurate system movements and documentation.
  • Supporting day-to-day planning of warehouse tasks and workflows.
  • Being a visible, hands-on presence on the floor to keep standards high.

About You

We are looking for someone wanting to step into a senior role in time, capable and reliable, who can operate independently and be trusted to run their area well.

You will bring:

  • 7+ years’ experience in warehousing, logistics or distribution.
  • Strong forklift experience (counterbalance and reach essential).
  • Experience with container devanning, inbound goods and dispatch operations.
  • Proven experience in inventory control, receipting and stock investigation.
  • Confidence working in WMS / ERP systems and RF scanning (e.g. dotWMS, NetSuite or similar).
  • Experience communicating with freight forwarders, transport providers and internal stakeholders.
  • A strong understanding of warehouse health and safety practices.
  • Natural leadership qualities – comfortable guiding others and setting standards, even without the title.
  • A hands-on mindset – willing to roll up your sleeves and lead from the floor.

Company Overview

The fundamental principle of Simba’s People and Culture Strategy is surprisingly simple — make people shine. Simba is built on generations of passion, drive and courage. These qualities are still embraced today and have shaped the Simba Family Values: We Support, We Listen, We Innovate, We Deliver, We Step Up. These values encompass the very essence of Simba. Ultimately, they identify what makes Simba unique. Our culture and DNA. These values are a commitment to Simba, and to each other. Importantly the preface of We before each of the values shows that as a business, Simba is united.
