Description

Put your technical expertise to work with purpose.

At Silentium Defence, we develop passive radar technology to protect those that matter. We’re looking for a Senior Technician who takes pride in quality workmanship, enjoys solving complex technical problems and can help others deliver their best work.

This role combines hands-on electronics work with day-to-day technical leadership. Working closely with our Hardware Team Lead, you’ll take ownership of assigned project work, support fellow technicians and contribute across product development, testing and field trials.

About the role

From assembling electronic systems to diagnosing faults and preparing equipment for trials, you’ll bring practical expertise to a varied hardware environment. You’ll also help coordinate priorities, strengthen work practices and build capability within the technician team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assembling, wiring, soldering, testing, calibrating and repairing electronic systems and subsystems.
  • Planning and delivering assigned work packages to agreed quality, safety and schedule requirements.
  • Interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams and technical instructions to support accurate assembly and structured fault finding.
  • Providing technical guidance, troubleshooting support and mentoring to fellow technicians.
  • Supporting task allocation, workflow coordination and resource planning across projects.
  • Preparing equipment and supporting the installation of antenna arrays and system components for trials, demonstrations and field activities.
  • Maintaining accurate assembly records, test results, bills of materials and configuration documentation.
  • Improving work instructions, tools and production methods while maintaining safe, organised workspaces.

About you

You’re an experienced electronics technician who combines strong practical skills with a clear, collaborative approach. You take ownership of your work, communicate technical issues effectively and enjoy sharing your knowledge.

You’ll bring:

  • Extensive hands-on experience in electronics assembly, testing and troubleshooting.
  • Confidence reading and interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
  • A strong understanding of electronic components, electrostatic discharge (ESD) controls and safe work practices.
  • The ability to diagnose complex faults and work with minimal supervision.
  • Experience mentoring or supervising junior team members.
  • Accurate documentation habits and a disciplined approach to configuration control.
  • The flexibility to manage changing priorities and contribute to laboratory and field activities.

Experience in defence, aerospace or another high-assurance environment would be valuable, as would familiarity with ERP or configuration management systems. A Certificate IV or Diploma in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or a related field is desirable.

Why join Silentium Defence?

  • Contribute to technology with a clear purpose: to protect those that matter.
  • Enjoy varied technical work across assembly, testing, product support and field trials.
  • Work closely with engineers and technicians to solve practical challenges.
  • Help shape team practices and develop capability as the hardware function grows.
  • Build towards broader technician leadership responsibilities over time.
