RSC is seeking a Principal Geoscientist to bring senior technical expertise to its geoscience consulting projects. Reporting to the General Manager Geoscience, you will deliver technical work to the highest professional standard while having an active role in mentoring the next generation of geoscientists. This role suits an experienced geoscientist from industry or academia ready to apply deep technical knowledge to real-world exploration and mining challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead geological and technical project work in accordance with JORC, NI 43-101 or equivalent reporting codes.
  • Apply machine learning, multivariate analytics and geoscience data integration to improve exploration targeting, interpretation and technical decision-making.
  • Interpret complex geological datasets across global projects, commodities and mineral systems.
  • Manage and validate mining and exploration data, and lead fieldwork including mapping, sampling, logging and drilling.
  • Conduct Competent Person or Qualified Person site visits, and sign off code-compliant reports within your experience.
  • Write, peer review and technically edit reports, engaging directly with clients to deliver expert technical advice.

Required Expertise:

  • 15+ years’ industry experience, or equivalent depth from research and academia, with multi-commodity exposure across common mineral systems.
  • BSc (MSc or higher preferred) in Geoscience or a related discipline, ideally with a PhD and peer-reviewed publications.
  • Competent Person or Qualified Person status for at least one commodity under JORC, NI 43-101 or an equivalent code.
  • Strong grounding in quality assurance, quality control and sampling theory, with JORC/NI43-101 reporting knowledge.

  • Exceptional technical writing skills, with GIS, database, spreadsheet and 3D modelling ability.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development, with membership in a recognised professional body (AusIMM, AIG or equivalent) well regarded.

This senior technical role requires a collaborative approach, personal rigour and a genuine commitment to professional excellence. The position suits a geoscientist who combines deep technical expertise, sound judgement and a genuine drive to mentor others while being equally at home applying research discipline or industry pragmatism to real-world problems.
