Key Responsibilities:
- Drive a positive safety culture in the field and promote a no-harm approach to undertaking tasks.
- Conduct geological fieldwork such as mapping, sample collection, logging and drill supervision.
- Apply advanced understanding of QA/QC and sampling theory to audit and interrogate client data and ensure data quality standards.
- Support project planning and execution.
- Liaise with drill contractors and field personnel.
- Validate drillhole and other geological data.
- Review mining/exploration project QA procedures and QC data.
- Manage mining and exploration data.
- Conduct GIS compilation work.
- Engage directly with clients and contractors to deliver best practice technical advice.
- Proactively contribute to RSC’s reputation for excellence through mentorship, leadership and technical delivery.
Dependent on the project and location, you may also be required to:
- Undertake geological modelling, wireframing and other elements in the resource estimation process.
- Write technical reports and undertake peer review and technical editing.
- Be appointed as the Competent Person/Qualified Person for inspections and/or JORC, NI 43-101, or other related Code report sign-off.
To be considered, you will need:
- a minimum of 7 years of experience undertaking exploration projects;
- to be based in and/or have full work rights for New Zealand (no visa sponsorship is being offered for this position);
- an unwavering commitment to quality, compliance, and excellence in delivery;
- demonstrate a strong focus on the application of sound safety practices to prevent harm to yourself and others;
- experience in all aspects of exploration programmes, including RC, diamond, and sonic drilling, rig supervision, logging, sampling and mapping;
- extensive experience in heavy mineral sands and orogenic gold exploration with;
- CP in multiple commodities with expertise in the most common mineral systems;
- an excellent understanding of sampling theory and techniques, and quality assurance and quality control systems;
- extensive experience with standard geological database packages, data modelling, interpretation and reporting;
- excellent team leadership and project management skills with an innate ability to clearly and accurately articulate technical and project information with clients and project teams;
- excellent writing skills and ability to write JORC and NI 43-101 compliant reports;
- excellent ability to problem solve and adapt in challenging conditions, with the ability to meet targets and deliver to client deadlines;
- experience developing and embedding standard operating procedures for exploration programmes to ensure quality standards are achieved;
- the ability to collaborate, influence, mentor and train diverse workgroups; and
- a demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development, ideally through active membership with recognised professional bodies (AusIMM, AIG, or equivalent).
Additionally, you will require:
- a degree in earth sciences or a related field;
- the ability to provide a clear criminal record check;
- the ability to pass a pre-employment medical appropriate to the role;
- the ability to both in the field and in RSC offices; and
- completion or the ability to undertake 4WD training and Remote First Aid.
