Description
The Leisure Institute of Western Australia (LIWA), in partnership with Royal Life Saving WA (RLSWA), is seeking a Membership, Accreditation & Events Officer to support LIWA’s members and help maintain high professional standards across Western Australia’s aquatic and recreation industry.
This is a varied administrative and member-facing role, ideal for someone who enjoys helping people, working with systems, communicating with stakeholders and coordinating the many details that make services and events run smoothly.
About the Role
Reporting to the LIWA Executive Officer, you will work as part of a small, collaborative team responsible for membership services, accreditation processes and industry events.
A key focus of the role is providing a high level of service to LIWA members. You will be a trusted first point of contact, responding to questions, helping members navigate requirements and connecting them with relevant information, resources and industry support. You will build strong relationships with members and develop a sound understanding of LIWA’s services and the broader aquatic and recreation industry.
You will maintain accurate records, support members through accreditation and renewal requirements, and provide timely, professional assistance to industry stakeholders. You will also help plan, coordinate and deliver high-quality events that advance LIWA’s purpose and support its members and the broader aquatic and recreation industry.
Key Responsibilities
Memberships & Accreditation
- Provide responsive, friendly and professional service to LIWA members
- Act as a key point of contact for member questions, information and support
- Respond to member enquiries by phone, email and through online systems, following up or referring enquiries when required
- Build positive relationships with members, aquatic & recreation facilities and industry stakeholders
- Process new memberships and renewals through the membership and accreditation platform
- Keep membership and accreditation records up to date, working closely with members and aquatic facilities to ensure Accreditation requirements are maintained
- Review supporting qualifications and issue ATO Accreditation Certificates where requirements are met
- Process membership fees and payments in conjunction with finance team
- Prepare membership and accreditation reports
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, streamline processes and enhance the member experience
- Develop a strong understanding of LIWA’s services, programs and industry resources to provide accurate and helpful information
Events
- Manage the end-to-end delivery of key aquatic and recreation industry events, including the State Conference and Trade Show, regional seminars, Aquatic and Recreation Industry Awards, technical tours, workshops and member professional development events
- Coordinate event logistics, registrations, suppliers, presenters, sponsors and stakeholder communications
- Manage event budgets and monitor income and expenditure
- Prepare post-event reports identifying successes and opportunities for improvement
- Attend and support member events as required
- Represent LIWA and RLSWA at relevant meetings, functions and industry events
General Duties
- Respond to general membership and industry enquiries
- Undertake other relevant duties as directed, consistent with the position’s responsibilities and the employee’s skills, competence and training
About You
You will bring:
- Outstanding customer service skills and a genuine enjoyment of helping and connecting with people
- Demonstrated experience in administration, membership services, or customer service roles, including processing applications, renewals, and enquiries.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records, manage databases, and track deadlines.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with members and stakeholders.
- Experience supporting accreditation, compliance, or quality assurance processes.
- Ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders, including members, aquatic facilities, and internal teams.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience using CRM, membership, or database systems.
Experience in aquatics, sport, recreation, or the not-for-profit sector is desirable but not essential.
