The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior People and Culture Advisor to step up as Acting People and Culture Manager for a temporary maternity contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead the People and Culture function and contribute to meaningful, humble family-owned business and embed values-driven initiatives across the organisation.
During this period, you will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and play a key managerial role, ensuring a consistent, supportive, and strategic approach to all people-related matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the People and Culture function during the maternity leave, acting as the primary point of contact for people-related matters.
- Provide guidance to managers on people policies, performance, and employee relations.
- Oversee the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, and development.
- Contribute to organisational initiatives including staff wellbeing, inclusion, engagement, and policy development.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation and alignment with best practice.
- Champion initiatives that promote a positive workplace culture and high employee engagement.
- Oversee the performance appraisal process, ensuring fair and constructive feedback.
- Implement performance improvement plans and recognition programs to motivate and engage employees.
- Manage HR compliance and minimise risks.
- Work closely with CEO and CFO regarding remuneration strategies against the changing demands of the business and teams.
- Ensure a culture aligned with Company values through developing a strong employee experience program.
- Develop talent management and succession plans.
- Organise company events, e.g., Christmas party, off-site strategy meetings.
- Build out and/or review all policies and procedures in Employment Hero.
- Utilise HR data and analytics to inform decision-making and measure the effectiveness of HR initiatives.
- Address and resolve employee concerns and conflicts.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant labour laws and regulations.
- Lead by example promoting all Reid Policies and Procedures and relevant HSE & Quality legislation.
- Liaise with EAP providers and implement relevant wellbeing programs.
- Understand our customers’ needs and expectations, and awareness of how they are changing and the impact on employees and their roles.
- Oversee the administration of compensation and benefits programs.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field/equivalent experience.
- Experience in a senior advisory or managerial people function (e.g., People and Culture, HR).
- Strong knowledge and application of the Fair Work Act, Modern Awards and OH&S legislation and inclusive people practices.
- Confident in managing employee relations and acting with autonomy.
- Able to work closely with the leadership and management teams and represent the People and Culture function.
- Proactive, approachable, and values-led.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team, with strong project management and organisational skills.
- Proficiency in HR software and tools, with experience in data analytics and reporting.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing HR challenges.
- Proficient in all aspects of Microsoft Office and cloud-based platforms and HR Systems (Employment Hero is a plus!).
- Desirable:
- Previous experience in a family / community-based business.
- Experience working with remote/regional teams.
