Having a huge success producing pet broth for our Raw Essentials stores, Essential Broth Co. is the sister brand born out of the need for human-grade bone broth to enter the market.

We’re looking for a passionate person – who lives our values of being friendly, curious, responsive and knowledgeable and essential – to manage our Broth Production of both human and pet-grade broth, alongside our range of freeze-dried treats and pet accessories out of our manufacturing plant based in Mangere, Auckland. 

 

About our role

We are looking for a hard-working and reliable Broth, Treats & Pet Accessories Team Leader to work within our small production and packing team, as you lead the small team of Broth and Treat Assistants at our Ascot Road, Mangere location. If you enjoy working in a physical, hands-on role supervising a small friendly team, we’d love to hear from you.

You will be responsible for:

  • Managing, preparing and scheduling all aspects of broth production, including supervising staff and machine operation during production and filling
  • Monitoring freezers and stock control
  • Dispatching and invoicing of all Broth orders
  • Management and compliance with food control plans (MPI) and maintaining a safe, clean work environment, including general kitchen duties
  • Managing the team responsible for packing and distribution of Raw Essentials treats, supplements and other OTC products at the Ascot Road site
  • Order management, directing packing production and inventory control
  • Ensuring all packing and labelling of our broth, raw product and freeze-dried treat ranges are prepared for our stores
  • This role is full-time, approximately 40-45 hours per week Monday to Friday, with early start times.

 

To be successful, you will:

  • Be hardworking, reliable, and adaptable, working collaboratively with managers, colleagues, direct reports and support teams
  • Have previous experience within a busy food manufacturing environment
  • Be fully conversant with all pick packing processes
  • Be a strong, efficient communicator with good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritise effectively and follow processes and procedures accurately in accordance with our Health & Safety plan
  • Have the ability to motivate and bring out the best in your staff
  • Have a working knowledge of current FCP and MPI requirements
  • Be fully conversant with computer systems as this role includes use of our Inventory Management system
  • Be comfortable operating and troubleshooting food production equipment
  • Have the ability to meet tight deadlines and minimise stock loss
  • Have good attention to detail
  • Be comfortable working in a production environment with raw materials
