Summary:

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented Geological Field Technician to support field-based exploration and geological programs. This role involves assisting geologists with data collection, sampling, logging, and the day-to-day running of field activities. The ideal candidate will have strong field skills, a keen interest in geology, and a commitment to working safely in remote or challenging environments.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist with geological mapping, rock chip, soil and drill sampling programs.
  • Prepare, collect, and label field samples accurately and in line with QA/QC procedures.
  • Conduct field logging of drill chips or core under geologist supervision.
  • Operate and maintain field equipment (e.g., GPS, handheld XRF, core saws, 4wd vehicles)
  • Manage sample dispatch, chain of custody, and co-ordination with laboratories.
  • Perform data entry and management using geological software or Excel
  • Maintain field camps, sample storage, and workspaces in a clean and organised state.
  • Assist with site rehabilitation and environmental compliance tasks as required.
  • Adhere to all safety and environmental policies and report hazards or incidents promptly.

About you:

  • Certificate, Diploma, or relevant tertiary qualification in Geoscience (desirable)
  • Previous experience in a field-based geological or exploration role (preferred)
  • Current Manual Driver’s Licence (4wd Certification desirable)
  • Familiarity with sampling procedures and exploration equipment
  • Basic understanding of geology, mineralisation styles, and field safety
  • Experience using handheld GPS and data collection tools.
  • Strong computer literacy, including Excel and data entry platforms
