Whānau Ora Kaiārahi

We have two roles based in our Putāruru tari, supporting whānau across the Raukawa takiwā.
We are seeking two dedicated, culturally grounded Whānau Ora Navigators (Kaiārahi) to join our team. These roles support whānau to achieve their aspirations through holistic, whānau-centred planning and access to essential services.
The Trust
Raukawa Charitable Trust (RCT) has been a provider of quality community initiatives throughout the South Waikato since 1987, and we are proud to deliver a wide range of iwi-led initiatives in health, social, treaty, cultural, and environmental sectors, to the communities that we serve.
About the Roles
Our mahi focuses on empowering whānau to shape their own futures by supporting their growth, development, and wellbeing. If you value meaningful connections and making a real difference, these roles offer a rewarding opportunity.
One of our roles sit within our Chronic Care team, supporting our kaumātua, and whānau with chronic conditions.
The second role is within our Kahu Taurima team, supporting whānau with pēpē in their first five years of life.
As a Kaiārahi, you will:
- Work alongside whānau to develop and implement plans that are whanau-centric and strength based that positively impact on family growth, development, and wellbeing.
- Ensure plans reflect the desires of the whānau so that they are self-directed and empowered to achieve outcomes, moving towards optimal independence, and greater enjoyment of life.
- Use your local networks and collaborate with our health and social services and other community providers to ensure integrated support and utilise services to fully benefit the whanau.
- Use your coaching and mentoring experience and skills to support whānau to build resilience, economic security, and cultural confidence.
Other skills and abilities required for this role includes the ability to support and assess the needs of whānau, the ability to write aspirational plans, and then carry out regular evaluations and reviews of those plans.
We’re Looking For Someone Who Has:
- Experience in social work, community engagement, or Whānau Ora service delivery.
- A strong understanding of Te Ao Māori and commitment to kaupapa Māori values.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to create aspirational plans, evaluate progress and outcomes.
- Strong organisational and relationship-building skills.
- A clean full NZ driver’s licence and willingness to travel locally.
- A relevant tertiary qualification and at least one year of post-graduate experience (desirable).

You will be working in a friendly and supportive team environment, but you must also be able to
