Kō wai mātou? | Who are we?

The Raukawa Charitable Trust (RCT) has been a provider of quality community initiatives throughout the South Waikato since 1987, and we are proud to deliver a wide range of iwi-led initiatives in health, social, treaty, cultural, and environmental sectors, to the communities that we serve.

Te tūranga | The role

We are excited to invite a compassionate and dedicated Māori Disability Kaiārahi to join our team in this part-time (0.5 FTE) role. This position focuses on supporting tamariki with disabilities from birth to school age and their whānau through culturally responsive, whānau-centred navigation, advocacy, and coordination services.

Working alongside whānau, you will help strengthen mana motuhake by supporting them to understand their options, access the services they need, and build the confidence, skills, and knowledge to navigate disability support systems independently. Through meaningful relationships and a kaupapa Māori approach, you will empower whānau to achieve goals and improve outcomes for their tamariki.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with whānau to identify their strengths, aspirations, and support needs.
  • Support whānau to develop and implement plans that reflect their goals and cultural values.
  • Provide advocacy, information sharing, care coordination, and navigation support.
  • Connect whānau with disability, health, education, and community services and resources.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local providers, schools, health professionals, and community agencies.
  • Monitor and review progress with whānau, supporting sustainable pathways towards increased independence and self-determination.

Pūkenga | What You’ll Bring

  • Experience working with tamariki and whānau who require disability support.
  • Understanding of Te Ao Māori, tikanga Māori, and kaupapa Māori approaches.
  • Strong advocacy skills and the ability to support whānau through complex situations.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience working with Māori whānau and communities.
  • A qualification in disability, health, education, social services, or a related field (advantageous).
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload.
  • A full New Zealand driver’s licence and willingness to travel throughout the community.

What We Offer:

  • Be part of a kaupapa‑driven organisation making real change for whānau
  • Work in a culturally grounded, supportive team environment
  • Opportunity to contribute to long‑term transformation and healing
  • Flexible part-time hours supporting work-life balance
  • Guaranteed Christmas holidays each year due to a company close-down

 How to Apply

If you are passionate about supporting tamariki with disabilities and their whānau to thrive, and you’re committed to making a meaningful difference through kaupapa Māori practice, we would love to hear from you.

Please include a CV and a cover letter with your application.

Applications will be assessed as they are received and close Sunday 30th August 2026.
