Radiology SA was established in 2005 with just two Adelaide locations and has grown into one of South Australia’s leading imaging practices, now operating across 16 clinics and four public hospital contracts.

Radiology SA has over 12 Advanced Interventional Radiologists that work across both public and private healthcare settings throughout Adelaide, Darwin and Far North Queensland, delivering high-quality imaging services across a broad range of subspecialties.  

 

About the Fellowship Opportunity

We are offering FRANZCR qualified Radiologists the opportunity to undertake a dedicated Interventional Radiology training commencing February or August 2027

This fellowship provides an ideal opportunity for those seeking to develop broad procedural confidence and competence in interventional radiology. It also serves as an excellent foundation for those wishing to pursue further subspecialty training, including future Advanced Interventional fellowship opportunities and would provide an excellent foundation for those wishing to pursue consultant positions in Interventional Radiology. 

Radiologists with an interest in working towards the EBIR (European Board of Interventional Radiology) qualification are encouraged to apply.  The fellowship offers exposure and procedural experience that may assist candidates in progressing towards EBIR requirements, and support can be provided to help facilitate this pathway. 

Fellowships are available as 6 or 12-month programs, with part-time arrangements considered. 

The hybrid opportunity combines: 

  • 2–3 days per week Interventional Fellowship training 
  • 1–2 days per week Consultant Radiologist duties 

Flexibility regarding FTE arrangements, fellowship/professional development allocation and rostering structures (including part-time or 9-day fortnight style arrangements) may be considered. 

Optional opportunities for interstate collaboration and travel exposure may also arise throughout the fellowship, though participation is not required. 

Fellows may also be considered for permanent Consultant Radiologist opportunities within Radiology SA, subject to workforce requirements, at the conclusion of your fellowship.

Fellowship Experience & Exposure

Fellows will gain experience in RANZCR basic and advanced procedures including: 

  • Image-guided biopsies (ultrasound- and CT-guided) 
  • Drainage procedures (deep and superficial abscess/collection drainages, tunnelled ascitic and pleural drains) 
  • Vascular access procedures (Permcath and Infusaport insertion) 
  • Basic interventional oncology procedures 
  • Musculoskeletal injections, including the full breadth of spinal procedures and rhizolysis 
  • Gastrostomy and enteric access procedures 
  • Nephrostomy insertion and exchange 
  • Exposure to advanced procedures like PTC and embolisations 

 

Fellows will also participate in multidisciplinary meetings and clinical decision making.
