About the Role
We’re looking for an Accounts & Administration Officer to support the financial and administrative operations of our busy insurance building company. This is a hands-on role best suited to someone with an administration or bookkeeping background, particularly from the building, trades, or construction industries.
This is not a graduate or pathway accounting role. This position is administrative with no accounting or bookkeeping experience necessary, just experience in accounts payable and receivable, primarily focused on day-to-day accounts administration and supporting our Accounts team with a range of operational tasks. We’re looking for someone who is organised, proactive, and confident managing their workload independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Process subcontractor and supplier invoices
- Assist with preparation and submission of completion and progress claims
- Reconcile credit card transactions and accurately track job-related expenses
- Monitor accounts payable and receivable, and follow up on overdue payments
- Prepare weekly pay runs and liaise with suppliers as required
- Perform bank reconciliations and maintain accurate general ledger entries
- Liaise with suppliers and internal stakeholders for required documentation
- Assist with month-end and year-end financial close activities
- Maintain detailed records and ensure accuracy across financial systems and data
- Support the preparation of financial reports, budgets, and forecasts
Skills and Experience
- Experience in a similar accounts admin role
- Proficiency in financial systems such as Xero and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong reconciliation and reporting skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritise, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
