About the Role

We’re looking for an Accounts & Administration Officer to support the financial and administrative operations of our busy insurance building company. This is a hands-on role best suited to someone with an administration or bookkeeping background, particularly from the building, trades, or construction industries.

This is not a graduate or pathway accounting role. This position is administrative with no accounting or bookkeeping experience necessary, just experience in accounts payable and receivable, primarily focused on day-to-day accounts administration and supporting our Accounts team with a range of operational tasks. We’re looking for someone who is organised, proactive, and confident managing their workload independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process subcontractor and supplier invoices
  • Assist with preparation and submission of completion and progress claims
  • Reconcile credit card transactions and accurately track job-related expenses
  • Monitor accounts payable and receivable, and follow up on overdue payments
  • Prepare weekly pay runs and liaise with suppliers as required
  • Perform bank reconciliations and maintain accurate general ledger entries
  • Liaise with suppliers and internal stakeholders for required documentation
  • Assist with month-end and year-end financial close activities
  • Maintain detailed records and ensure accuracy across financial systems and data
  • Support the preparation of financial reports, budgets, and forecasts

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in a similar accounts admin role
  • Proficiency in financial systems such as Xero and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong reconciliation and reporting skills
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
