The Role
We are looking for a Trade Assistant/Laborer to join our team in Cairns – Queensland. This role involves performing manual tasks and operating machinery while ensuring all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- General cleaning and laboring support across the workshop and yard
- Organising, cleaning and maintaining a safe and tidy workspace
- Pick-up and delivery of workshop equipment
- Safely operating a forklift to move and store materials and equipment
- Supporting the workshop operations to ensure efficiency and workflow
- Picking and packing of mechanical equipment (inward and outward goods)
- Assisting trades such as Hydraulic Technicians and Hose Technicians when required
- Assist with tool store and hire fleet management
- Assist with calibration system for workshop equipment
- Assist with general duties such as procurement, store liaison, job identification, workshop maintenance and clean up
- Assist with routine maintenance and repairs of workshop equipment
- Identify and report problems in processes, systems, or procedures
- Initiate or recommend solutions to problems identified
- Ensure prompt reporting of all incidents
- And any other duties as reasonably required from time to time
Qualifications & Experience
- The successful candidate will possess the following:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role (Essential)
- Valid Australian driver’s license or equivalent (Essential)
- Valid Forklift license
- Strong commitment to safety practices and procedures in the workplace
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in various environmental conditions
- Availability to travel to job sites as needed
