Description

Therapeutic Youth Support Worker

Permanent Part-Time (PPT) positions available across South East & South West Regions.

Offering PPT is part of a deliberate shift toward a more structured, consistent, and therapeutic rostering model, designed to improve outcomes for young people while providing greater stability and security for staff.

About the Roster Model

Successful applicants will be allocated to a fixed roster line (B, C or D), working within a structured team model alongside a Senior Therapeutic Support Worker. These roster lines are designed to fully cover baseline program operations (typically 6:00am – 10:00pm plus sleepover), ensuring consistency in staffing and care delivery.

A key feature of these roles is the predictability and stability they provide, both for staff and, critically, for the young people we support. Consistent faces, routines, and relationships are central to therapeutic practice and positive outcomes.

Key Features of PPT Roster Lines

  • Allocation to a fixed roster line (B, C or D)
  • 48 or 56 hours per fortnight
  • 4–5 sleepovers per fortnight
  • No back-to-back sleepovers
  • 3 consecutive days off each fortnight
  • Every second weekend off
  • 1 double shift per fortnight (Saturday or Sunday)
  • Participation in a structured 2-week rotating roster

The inclusion of weekend double shifts is intentional, enabling greater flexibility for:

  • Community access
  • Weekend day trips and extended activities
  • Responding to the individual needs and interests of young people

Key Benefits of Converting to PPT

  • Guaranteed, stable income with set fortnightly hours
  • Access to paid leave entitlements (annual leave, leave loading)
  • Improved work-life balance through predictable rostering
  • Increased job security and ongoing employment stability
  • Stronger connection to a core team and program
  • First right of refusal for additional shifts within your program
  • Access to professional development, internal progression, and career pathways

Expectations of PPT Staff

Staff transitioning to PPT will be expected to:

  • Commit to their allocated roster line and rotation
  • Contribute to a consistent, therapeutic team environment
  • Support flexible, needs-based programming for young people
  • Maintain high standards of engagement, reliability, and practice quality
