Mental Health and Disability Support Worker

Health and Disability Support Workers in Rossmore, New South Wales. As a support worker, you will be responsible for providing assistance and care to individuals with mental health issues and disabilities inclusive of those with autism in a community setting. This role requires empathy, patience, and the ability to support clients in achieving their goals for independence and wellbeing.

Responsibilities:

Providing emotional support to clients experiencing mental health challenges

Assisting clients with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks

Implementing individualised care plans developed by healthcare professionals

Encouraging clients to participate in social activities within the community

Monitoring client progress towards their goals and reporting any concerns or changes in behaviour

Delivery of medication

Behaviour management

Teaching life skills and encouraging independence

Maintaining professional documentation

Accompanying participants to programs and medical appointment

Requirements:

Previous experience in a similar role required

Experience with Epilepsy and Autism preferred

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Experience with Schizophrenia highly valued

High availability preferred

Maintain availability

Qualifications:

– Certificate III or IV in Mental Health or Disability Support (or willingness to obtain)

– Previous experience working with individuals with mental health issues or disabilities is preferred but not required (entry-level position)

– Current First Aid/CPR certification

– Valid driver’s license
