Porter Plant has been a trusted provider of plant and equipment hire for more than 30 years, specializing in dry hire solutions across Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, New South Wales, and Queensland. With a strong presence and a loyal customer base, we’re now looking to continue our expansion our impact in South Australia.

We support customers in civil construction, road construction and maintenance, utilities, renewables, and various government sectors. Due to an internal move, we are seeking an energetic, personable, and experienced Business Development & Account Manager to join our dynamic team.

Your Role

Reporting to the South Australian State Manager, you will:

• Manage existing accounts while identifying and developing new business opportunities across Adelaide metro and the Northern regional districts.

• Strengthen client relationships and negotiate both short- and long-term dry hire agreements.

• Leverage our existing customer base and professional networks to drive business growth.

• Work collaboratively within a professional and supportive team, taking ownership of outcomes in your territory.

Your Career Progression

At Porter Plant, we’re always looking to develop future leaders. The successful candidate will be positioned as the next leader for our SA Sales Team. In the first 18 months, you’ll gain deep insight into our business, customers, and operations, while receiving training to prepare for success as the State Manager.

What You Need

To excel in this role, you will bring:

✔ Industry Experience – Proven track record in the hire industry, working with civil construction, road construction, utilities, renewables, and government sectors.

✔ Sales & Negotiation Skills – Ability to price, execute, and manage hire agreements and tender opportunities.

✔ Business Development Expertise – Experience in implementing strategies to secure new plant hire opportunities.

✔ Exceptional Communication & Relationship Building – Ability to engage, build trust, and present tailored solutions.

✔ Leadership Mindset – Lead by example through adherence to policies, problem-solving, and maintaining a proactive, glass-half-full attitude.
