• Demonstrated experience in fitting and maintaining industrial or mining equipment

Position Summary

The Fitter (General) is responsible for the assembly, installation, maintenance and repair of mechanical machinery, plant and equipment used in mining and industrial operations. The role focuses on precision fitting, alignment and maintenance of mechanical components to ensure safe and efficient operation of fixed and mobile plant.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install and fit mechanical components and equipment in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications
  • Dismantle, repair and reassemble machinery and mechanical parts
  • Perform maintenance and overhaul of industrial plant and equipment, including pumps, conveyors, crushers and processing machinery
  • Carry out precision fitting, alignment and adjustment of mechanical components
  • Inspect equipment, identify faults and perform mechanical repairs to restore functionality
  • Replace worn or defective parts and ensure correct tolerances and alignment
  • Conduct preventative maintenance to minimise equipment downtime
  • Use hand tools, power tools and measuring instruments to complete fitting tasks
  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics and manuals
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and report on equipment condition
  • Follow workplace health and safety procedures and comply with the site safety requirements
