About the role
The Pharmacist – Professional Support Adviser is a part-time role based in Canberra or Sydney within the Member Services Team. Reporting to the Pharmacist – Professional Support Adviser, the role is responsible for providing practice advice to PSA members, as well as promoting PSA products and services.
The Pharmacist – Professional Support Adviser role requires provision of customer service excellence to members and customers as well as strong collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. This includes the Member Services, Training Delivery, Policy and Practice Support teams and Product Managers.
Key Responsibilities
Professional Practice Advice and Support through the Pharmacist Advice Line
- Provide expert advice on professional practice, ethics, registration, legislation, standards and professional responsibilities.
- Support pharmacists in applying contemporary professional standards.
- Provide dedicated advice relating to the NSW Opioid Treatment Program.
- Ensure advice is evidence-based, risk-informed and aligned with PSA resources, including the APF, professional practice standards and guidelines, competency standards and code of ethics.
Member Experience and Engagement
- Promote awareness of, and use of, PSA services and resources (including support for CPD recording tool).
- Support member retention through delivery of valued professional advice and support and the triage of queries internally or externally to other organisations, as appropriate.
Intelligence Identification and Dissemination
- Identify emerging professional issues, practice trends and risks.
- Escalate issues to inform PSA education, member support, policy, advocacy and professional practice activities.
- Comply with mandatory reporting obligations (e.g. to AHPRA)
- Contribute professional expertise to organisational initiatives.
Professional Resources and Knowledge Development
- Contribute to the development and review of guidance documents, webpages, practice resources and support materials, and directories that support the triage process.
- Support continuous improvement of PSA professional support services.
Stakeholder Engagement and Representation
- Represent PSA in relevant professional forums, committees and stakeholder groups.
- Support productive relationships with regulators, government agencies and professional organisations, as needed for effective professional practice advice and support.
About you
- Pharmacist registered with AHPRA with current or recent experience in pharmacy practice in anypractice setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the issues and opportunities in contemporary pharmacy practice and workforce development both nationally and internationally.
- Demonstrated high level customer service orientation, communication and interpersonal skills, as well as strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build productive relationships including effective conflict resolution, negotiation and de-escalation.
- Demonstrated analytical, research and problem-solving skills including skills in interpreting health-related information and presenting information and arguments clearly and concisely.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills to manage competing priorities to achieve desired outcomes within specified timelines, whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Sound IT skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office and databases.
- Demonstrated ability to be an effective team member as well as work independently.
- Personal attributes of courtesy, tact, discretion and respect with the ability to observe confidentiality and behave in an ethical manner at all times.
