Description
Outward Bound Australia is accepting ongoing applications for Casual Group Leader and Activity & Logistics Support team members.
Our Group Leaders and Support Team Members contribute to the delivery of safe, engaging and high-quality outdoor education programs for a diverse range of participants. Group Leaders are responsible for leading and facilitating programs, while Activity & Logistics Support Team Members work alongside Group Leaders to support program delivery, activities, equipment, logistics and participant experiences. Outward Bound Programs vary in length, location, activity type and client group, providing casual staff with the opportunity to work across a broad range of outdoor education experiences.
Outward Bound Australia delivers journey-based outdoor education programs in the ACT, Victoria, NSW and WA. Outward Bound also delivers centre-based programs out of its National Base, Tharwa Campus, ACT.
Casual Group Leader work provides flexibility to work across a range of programs and locations, depending on your availability, qualifications and our operational requirements. Casual Group Leaders may be offered work based on program requirements and their skills, experience and availability. There is no guarantee of ongoing hours or a minimum number of shifts.
Skills and Experience Desired
The following skills, qualifications and experience are required for both Group Leaders and Activity & Logistics Support Team Members:
- Current WWCC or WWVP.
- Manual driving license, unrestricted (preferred but not essential).
- Experience with client groups to deliver technical outdoor activities.
- Experience working with client groups to deliver facilitated activities and outcomes supported by outdoor activities.
- Experience in leading and facilitating multi-days expedition programs.
Group Leaders
In addition to the above, Group Leaders are required to have:
- Cert IV in Outdoor Leadership or equivalent
- Current Wilderness First Aid and CPR
- Bronze medallion or Swift Water Rescue
Activity & Logistics Support Team Members
In addition to the core requirements above and based on the role, the following are desirable for Activity & Logistics Support Team members:
- Cert III in Outdoor Leadership or equivalent (preferred but not essential)
- Current Remote Area First Aid and CPR (preferred but not essential)
- Bronze Medallion or Swift Water Rescue (for team members with paddling skillsets)
The following electives are preferred for all positions: bushwalking, abseil, top-rope climbing, high ropes elements, canoeing, rafting.
